We achieve this by cultivating <br /> strengths, encouraging positive relationships, and helping youth develop the ability to make <br /> responsible choices. Through mentoring, community service, and teen court programs, <br /> Volunteers for Youth seeks to close the opportunity gap for Orange County youth by <br /> strengthening their social ties. <br /> 3. Volunteers for Youth's 37-year-old mentoring program is the longest running <br /> mentoring program in Orange County. VFY began Orange County's juvenile community <br /> service program in 1992 and the teen court program has been a part of VFY since 2004. <br /> Thousands of local children and teens have reaped the benefits of participating in these <br /> programs. Throughout the course of VFY's history, the organization has successfully <br /> adhered to budgets, timetables, and guidelines necessary to carry out these programs. <br /> 2.
