3 <br /> disability; and familial, residential or economic status. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Visitor's Bureau <br /> 4. The Orange County Visitors Bureau has received notification of a $10,750 grant award <br /> from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and the North Carolina <br /> Travel Industry Association. This grant period runs through December 30, 2020. These <br /> funds will be used to assist with the county's tourism recovery efforts. This budget <br /> amendment provides for the receipt of $10,000 for the above stated purpose. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column #4) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Animal Services <br /> 5. Orange County Animal Services has received $26,000 in Community Giving fund <br /> donations to be used to continue in-house spay and neuter of shelter animals. Due to <br /> COVID, the department was not able to perform in-house spay and neuter services for <br /> months and had been using the state's spay and neuter assistance program for these <br /> services, but they are much more expense than performing the services in-house. This <br /> budget amendment provides for the receipt of these Community Giving funds for the <br /> above stated purpose, to be paid out of the Community Giving Fund, outside of the <br /> General Fund. (See Attachment 1, column #5) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goals <br /> associated with this item. <br /> Emergency Services <br /> 6. The Orange County Emergency Services Department has received additional grant <br /> funds totaling $35,000 from the N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety <br /> related to the Emergency Management Performance Grant awards. The department <br /> plans to use these funds to assist in maintaining the comprehensive Emergency <br /> Management Program. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these grant <br /> funds, and amends the following grant project ordinance: (See Attachment 1, column <br /> #6) <br />
