1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: December 7, 2020 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-f <br /> SUBJECT: Approve a Construction Contract for the Main Building Roof Replacement of the <br /> Orange County Sportsplex Building <br /> DEPARTMENT: Asset Management Services <br /> (AMS), Orange County <br /> Sportsplex <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Contract with BAR Roofing and Maintenance Angel Barnes — 919-245-2628, <br /> Capital Projects Manager <br /> Steven Arndt — 919-245-2658, AMS Director <br /> John Stock — 919-644-0339, <br /> Recreational Factory Partners, CEO <br /> PURPOSE: For the Board of Orange County Commissioners: <br /> 1) To approve a construction contract with Bar Roofing and Maintenance for the main building <br /> roof replacement at the Orange County Sportsplex, and <br /> 2) To authorize the County Manager to execute the Agreement and to execute any subsequent <br /> amendments for contingent and unforeseen requirements up to the approved budget amount on <br /> behalf of the Board, upon final County Attorney review. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Orange County Sportsplex was added to the Orange County Facility Inventory <br /> in 2005. The original facility was built in 1995. The current roof system is original to this building. The roof <br /> currently has leak issues that are reoccurring and costly to repair. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The construction contract with Bar Roofing and Maintenance is a not to <br /> exceed amount of $429,050. The total cost of project, including professional services, <br /> construction services, and contingency costs, is $660,000. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: Create a Safe Community and Enable full Civic Participation <br /> Replacement of the main building roof system will create a safe working environment for staff. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The following Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact is applicable to this item: ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND WASTE REDUCTION Initiate <br /> policies and programs that: 1) conserve energy; 2) reduce resource consumption; 3) increase the <br /> use of recycled and renewable resources; and 4) minimize waste stream impacts on the <br /> environment. <br />
