She said the work is very <br /> important, and Commissioners should have that vocabulary. She said Triangle J Council of <br /> Government is incorporating these topics into meetings, and encouraging participants to think <br /> broadly. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin asked if the Town of Hillsborough is participating in the group of <br /> governments in the cohort <br /> Annette Moore said the Town of Hillsborough was not involved in the cohort, but is now <br /> a member with GARE, and is included in the countywide initiative. She said this information will <br /> be presented to the Town of Hillsborough on October 12, 2020, and she will attend this meeting. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin asked if there was a timeline for the items that were mentioned, <br /> and an arc over the next three months, six months, etc. <br /> Annette Moore said the countywide team is focusing on creating timelines. She said she <br /> wants to move faster than the rest of the group, and negotiations are underway. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin asked if there will be interim updates like this evening. <br /> Annette Moore said the racial equity plan should not take a long time. She said this is <br /> just an outline of what needs to be done. She said it will take more time to complete the racial <br /> equity index. She said they are currently working on the projects for GEAR specifically. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin referred to the BOCC listening session about policing, and asked <br /> if this fits into GARE in any way. <br /> Annette Moore said the Human Relations Committee will be discussing this on Monday <br /> night, and having a community conversation about what defunding the police means. She said <br /> the GARE also seeks to provide racial equity training to boards and commissions. <br />
