He encouraged the schools to use their unassigned <br /> fund balances to address these needs. <br /> Dr. Jim Causby said Commissioner McKee is preaching what he believes. He said there <br /> is no question that children will be at least half a year behind. He said students cannot be <br /> overloaded right now, but expanded summer offerings will be crucial. <br /> Dr. Monique Felder agreed. She said this situation presents many challenges, especially <br /> to those who were at risk prior to the pandemic. She said some OCS students are receiving <br /> additional support, and more options are being pursued to increase this.
