Buc-ee’s Phase 2 – Efland, NC

27

6.10 Mt. Willing Road – Site Driveway

The current site plan proposes a full movement driveway on Mt. Willing Road approximately 625
feet north of I-40 WB Ramps. The following additional improvements are recommended to
accommodate projected site traffic demands:

 Construct the site driveway as a full-movement access, with one ingress lane and two egress
lanes

With the recommended improvements in place, the minor street approach (Site Driveway) is
expected to operate with short delays in the AM peak hour and moderate delays in the PM peak
hour in the build-out traffic condition. Note that it is typical for the stop-controlled approach with
a major street to experience long delays while the major street experiences little or no delay. No
queuing issues are expected at this intersection. Therefore, no additional improvements are
recommended at this intersection to accommodate site traffic.

Table 6.10 summarizes the operation of the intersection for the projected (2023) build-out traffic
condition.

Table 6.10
Level-of-Service
I-40 WB Service Road – West RI/RO Site Driveway
Condition AM Peak Hour
LOS (Delay)
PM Peak Hour
LOS (Delay)
Build-out (2023) Traffic WB – C (25.0) WB – E (45.0)
* Note: HCM methodology does not report an overall level of service for unsignalized intersections.
