Willing Road – I-40 EB Ramps
• I-40 EB Service Road – I-40 EB Entrance Ramp
• US-70/I-40 Connector – I-40 EB Ramps
• US-70/I-40 Connector – I-40 WB Ramps
• I-40 WB Service Road – I-40 WB Entrance Ramp
• Mt. Willing Road – I-40 WB Ramps
• US-70/I-40 Connector – Ben Johnston Road
• Mt. Willing Road – Forrest Avenue
• US-70 – Efland-Cedar Grove Road

The AM and PM peak hour counts were collected on May 21-23, 2019. The Saturday peak hour
counts were collected on October 26 and November 2, 2019. Traffic volumes at two intersection
merge points (I-40 EB Service Road – I-40 EB Exit Ramp and I-40 WB Service Road – I-40 WB
Exit Ramp) were derived by balancing actual count volumes at adjacent intersections. The
existing AM, PM and Saturday peak hour traffic volumes are shown on Figures 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3,
and the intersection traffic counts are included in the Appendix.

5.2 Historic Growth Traffic

Historic growth traffic is the increase in traffic due to non-specific growth throughout the area.
An annual growth rate of 2.0% was applied to existing volumes in the study area up through the
project build-out year 2022. Background growth calculations are detailed on intersection
spreadsheets in the Appendix of this report.

5.3 Background Traffic

Background traffic volumes, which include existing and historic growth traffic, are shown on
Figures 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 for the AM, PM and Saturday peak hours, respectively.

5.4 Site Traffic

The proposed site traffic was generated and assigned to the adjacent roadway network according
to the distribution discussed previously in Section 4.0. The site traffic volumes for the AM, PM
and Saturday peak hours are shown in Figures 5.4, 5.5 and 5.6, respectively.

131
