Willing Road – I-40 EB Ramps <br /> US-70/I-40 Connector – I-40 EB Ramps <br /> US-70/I-40 Connector – I-40 WB Ramps <br /> US-70/I-40 Connector – Ben Johnston Road/Site Driveway <br /> I-40 WB Service Road – East RI/RO Site Driveway <br /> I-40 WB Service Road – West RI/RO Site Driveway <br /> <br />Figure 2.1 shows the site location. <br /> <br />2.2 Existing Conditions <br /> <br />The proposed Buc-ee’s - West Orange County project is located generally north of I-40 between <br />Mt. Willing Road and the US-70/I-40 Connector in Efland, North Carolina. Significant roadways <br />in the study area include I-40, Mt. Willing Road, US-70/I-40 Connector, and US-70. Figure 2.2 <br />shows the existing roadway laneage. <br /> <br />I-40 is generally an eight-lane divided freeway with a posted speed limit of 65 mph in the vicinity <br />of the site. NCDOT reports that the 2018 average daily traffic (ADT) volume was approximately <br />126,000 vehicles per day (vpd) between Mt. Willing Road and US-70/I-40 Connector. Note that <br />I-40 and I-85 routes overlap in the study area. Because the freeway’s east-west orientation <br />through the study area generally matches I-40’s overall alignment, this report refers to this <br />roadway as I-40. <br /> <br />Mt. Willing Road is generally a two-lane undivided road with a posted speed limit of 45 mph in <br />the vicinity of the site. The 2017 ADT volume was approximately 8,100 vpd north of I-40. <br /> <br />The US-70/I-40 Connector varies between a three-lane undivided road and a four-lane divided <br />road with a posted speed limit of 45 mph south of Ben Johnson Road. The 2018 ADT volume <br />was approximately 5,900 vpd north of Ben Johnston Road. <br /> <br />US-70 is generally a two-lane undivided road with a posted speed limit of 45 mph in the vicinity <br />of Efland-Cedar Grove Road. The 2017 ADT volume was approximately 4,400 vpd east of <br />Efland-Cedar Grove Road. <br /> <br />123
