Commission McKee said he is worried about dragging out the Public Hearing, and <br /> October seems a bit far. He said this item is very important to many people. <br /> Commissioner Bedford asked if the October 6th agenda is already full, and, if so, she <br /> would support adding another meeting. <br /> Bonnie Hammersley said the big item for October 6th is this item, as staff expected the <br /> Board to complete the public hearing tonight and need October 6th for discussion and voting. <br /> She said if the Board wants to cut items from tonight's agenda, she would remind the Board that <br /> the legislative agenda has a deadline of 9/30 to be sent to North Carolina Association of County <br /> Commissioners (NCACC). <br /> Chair Rich said she does not want to wait until October 6th, and she recommend <br /> continuing the public hearing to September 22, 2020. <br /> Commissioner McKee asked if any Board members have a conflict September 22, 2020. <br /> There was no apparent conflict. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin said staff should identify the halfway mark of those signed up for <br /> public comment, so those people will know they will not get to speak tonight. <br /> Chair Rich asked if this suggestion was acceptable to staff. <br /> Bonnie Hammersley asked if new people will be allowed to speak at the continued <br /> hearing, and if people will be allowed to speak a second time, etc. <br /> John Roberts said no new or repeat speakers will be allowed. He said anyone can <br /> submit written comment within 24 hours after the public hearing closes. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Bedford <br /> continue the public hearing to date certain September 22nd, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin made a friendly amendment to continue the public hearing to <br /> September 29, 2020, as the Board does not have any other meetings that week. <br /> Commissioner McKee said he would accept that friendly amendment if the seconder <br /> does so as well. <br /> Commissioner Bedford said she would accept. <br /> Commissioner Price said she cannot attend on September 29tn <br /> Chair Rich called for a vote on the original motion for the 22nd <br /> Roll call ensued <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 4 (Greene, Bedford, Rich, McKee); Nays, 3 (Dorosin, Marcoplos, Price) <br /> MOTION PASSES <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Greene to <br /> read off the names of those who will make public comment at this meeting. <br /> Commissioner Marcoplos requested a follow-up email be sent those who will make <br /> public comment on September 22, 2020. <br /> The Board agreed by consensus. <br /> Roll call ensued <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />
