54 <br /> The Board considered voting on the intent to adopt a resolution for the naming of the <br /> Whitted Building Meeting Room as the Donna Baker Boardroom. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Donna Baker, Clerk to the Orange County Board of Commissioners, passed away unexpectedly <br /> at her home in Orange County on July 31, 2020. Donna was appointed Clerk to the Board in <br /> June 2002 and served as Clerk for over 18 years. Donna served the residents of Orange <br /> County and a total of 18 different members of the Board of Commissioners as a dependable, <br /> smart, dedicated, steadfast, and calming spirit. <br /> Donna Baker is remembered for her spirit, her energy and her innumerable contributions to <br /> Orange County. Donna treated County residents with special warmth when they came to her for <br /> help. She was a dedicated public servant, especially to the Board of Orange County <br /> Commissioners. <br /> In memory and appreciation of Donna's dedication and commitment, the proposal to name the <br /> Whitted Building Meeting Room as the Donna Baker Boardroom is presented to the Board of <br /> Orange County Commissioners for consideration. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Greene to <br /> direct staff to develop a resolution at a future meeting to name the Whitted Building Meeting <br /> Room as the Donna Baker Boardroom <br /> Roll Call ensued <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> b. Orange County's Recommendations Regarding Goals for Inclusion in the North <br /> Carolina Association of County Commissioners' (NCACC) 2021-2022 Legislative <br /> Goals Package <br /> To consider and approve a Resolution Detailing Orange County's Recommendations Regarding <br /> Goals for Inclusion in the North Carolina Association of County <br /> Commissioners' (NCACC) 2021-2022 Legislative Goals Package. <br /> Greg Wilder with the County Manager's Office briefly presented this item. He noted the draft <br /> resolution in the agenda package from the Legislative Issues Work Group, as well as the <br /> updated Item #50 for that resolution from Commissioner Greene that had been emailed <br /> previously to the Board. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Every two years, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) organizes <br /> a process to develop a legislative goals package. The purpose of the package is to develop a <br /> consensus of broad support on legislative goals and issues for matters affecting North Carolina <br /> counties that may be addressed by the North Carolina General Assembly during the next two <br /> calendar years. The goals and issues included in the package, with their broad support, guide <br /> and strengthen <br /> NCACC representatives and staff as they converse with individual legislators and committees <br /> on legislative matters. NCACC began the process to develop its 2021-2022 Legislative Goals <br /> Package in July 2020.North Carolina counties have been asked to submit proposed legislative <br />
