Orange County Board of Adjustment—Appointment Discussion <br /> Position #2 —TBD (BOCC Appointment) <br /> Position #3 — Samantha Cabe <br /> Position #4 —TBD (BOCC Appointment) <br /> Position #6 —TBD (BOCC Appointment) <br /> Position #7—TBD (BOCC Appointment) <br /> Commissioner Bedford asked if there is a conflict of interest for Judge Cabe. <br /> Commissioner Price said she thinks it is more a question of her having enough time. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin agreed with Commissioner Bedford, and said having the chief <br /> district court judge creates undue influence on other board members. <br /> Commissioner Price asked if a resolution was passed stating other elected officials <br /> would not be eligible to serve on advisory boards. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Bedford to <br /> appoint Nathan Boucher (#2), Kent Candle (#4), Jeff Scott (#6) and Scott Taylor (#7) <br /> Commissioner Price asked if there are any age limits for these positions. <br /> Thom Freeman-Stuart said no. <br /> Chair Rich said she does not want to vote to Nathan Boucher because he wants to run <br /> for Town Council in Chapel Hill, and she does not want these boards to be used as a spring <br /> board. <br /> Commissioner McKee said he served on the planning board as a spring board to the <br /> BOCC. <br /> Commissioner Greene said those boards are good training grounds within the same <br /> municipality. <br /> Position #2 <br /> Votes: Ayes, 3 (Commissioner Bedford, Commissioner Price, and Commissioner McKee); <br /> Nays, 4 (Chair Rich, Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Greene, Commissioner <br /> Macroplos) <br /> MOTION FAILS <br />
