<br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goals <br /> associated with this item. <br /> <br />Sheriff’s Office <br />12. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has the following budgetary changes: <br />• Alzheimer’s Foundation of America - received a grant award of $2,500 from the <br />Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to help those affected by Alzheimer’s and other <br />dementia related illnesses. These funds will support training and equipment needs <br />for the life track program (to track walk off patients). This budget amendment <br />provides for the receipt of these grant funds for the above stated purpose. <br />• Drug Forfeiture Fund - reprogram $25,000 from its Drug Forfeiture Fund to the <br />Sheriff’s General Fund budget to support a grant award to the Fathers on the Move <br />nonprofit agency. This use of forfeiture funds is consistent with the U.S. Department <br />of Justice guidelines. This disbursement of funds will teach participants the skill and <br />provide the support needed to integrate back into mainstream society and to improve <br />their relationships with their children. The current unassigned fund balance in the <br />Drug Forfeiture Fund is $1,220,901. (See Attachment 3, Sheriff’s Office Community- <br />Based Organization Grant Agreement) <br />This budget amendment provides for the budgetary changes as stated above. (See <br />Attachment 1, column #9) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br /> <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br />gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> <br />Department on Aging <br />13. The Orange County Department on Aging has received $5,000 in grant revenue from <br />Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG) to monitor and coordinate the area’s Handy <br />Helpers programs for FY 2020-21. This continues the grant award received in FY 2019- <br />20. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these grant funds. (See <br />Attachment 1, column #10) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br /> <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br />activity, substance abuse and domestic violence <br /> <br />County Manager/Arts Commission <br />14. The Orange County Arts Commission has received $3,500 in returned grant funds from <br />its State Arts Grant award in FY 2019-20, which they were not able to spend in FY 2019- <br />20. These returned grants were from schools unable to fulfill programs due to COVID-19. <br />Funds are to be re-granted to top scoring FY19-20 Grassroots applicants who are 501c3 <br />7
