Update/Trails & Greenways Map/Chris Dwinell- Application Development Specialist; OC Land Records/GIS <br /> Chris gave a short background/Tour of the project for new members. <br /> Seach Boxes will: <br /> • Show trails <br /> • Search trails and admenities <br /> • Trail marker locations will aid 911 with calls <br /> Type Filters <br /> • 1s' Urban or Rural <br /> • 2nd Trail Region (Chapel Hill; Carrboro; Eno; Orange County; and other) <br /> • 3rd Trail System <br /> Current Status and next steps <br /> • Add trail markers <br /> • Review data Input <br /> • Develop legend <br /> • Develop graphis <br /> • Creation of Web App <br /> • Install a test page <br /> • Obtain feedback from test <br /> • Link Trails and Greenway Map to Interactive Parks Locator Map <br /> • Each entity will promote the new site on their webpage similar to the Interactive Parks Locator Map <br /> 4. What's on the Horizon?/ Long Range Parks and Recreation Plans <br /> A. Town of Chapel Hill— Linda Smith (Assitant Director- Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation) <br /> American Legion property <br /> • Town purchased 32.22 acre site <br /> • Adjacent to Ephesus park <br /> • Charrette on the 8th <br /> • Some of it may be sold <br /> The town and Orange County are working together to host the Bike Across NC program with overnight camping <br /> on October 3rd at Homestead Park <br /> B. Town of Carrboro - Anita Jones-McNair (Director-Carrboro Recreation & Parks) &Wendell Rodgers <br /> • Town Wide Space needs study going on and includes parks and Recreation facilities <br /> • Redesign for MLK jr. Park; hopeful to identify funds for construction <br /> • The programming side of recreation is looking at their service delivery/staff configuration to see ifchanges <br /> need to be made. Carrboro Day is May 7 <br /> • Senior Games are wrapping up. <br /> C. Town of Hillsborough—Stephanie Trueblood - Hillsborough Public Space Division <br /> Churton St Improvement Project begins April 17. <br /> • 8-10 months of construction with lane closures. <br /> • The town received a $100,000 Downtown Revitalization Grant to improve amenities—benches, planters, <br /> etc. all items have been ordered but not all have been placed yet. <br /> West Hillsborough will be getting sidewalks/crosswalk improvements <br /> Hillsborough is one of 35 cities to be named a"Bee City" <br /> • Pollinator friendly rain gardens, etc. will be popping up <br /> • Pilot project at Cates Creek Park <br /> The Public Space Division is now a reality and will tak over maintenance of public areas <br />
