34 <br /> • Approve the grant application which includes the resolution previously adopted by the <br /> Board authorizing the applicant to enter into an agreement with the North Carolina <br /> Department of Transportation (NCDOT); and <br /> • Authorize the County Attorney to review and complete the necessary 2021 certifications <br /> and assurances when they are received (2020 versions attached as examples). <br /> Theo Letman, Transportation Services Director, reviewed the following information: <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Each year, the NCDOT Public Transportation Division accepts requests for operations and <br /> administrative needs for county-operated Urbanized Area Formula Grant applications. OCTS is <br /> eligible to make an application for both operations and administrative funding. NCDOT has <br /> allotted $580,654 in funds, to be divided between State funding of$290,327 and local funding of <br /> $290,327. Article 43 Transit Tax proceeds will cover the required local match, and will propose <br /> the allocation of these funds in a future Budget Amendment for consideration by the Board of <br /> Commissioners. <br /> Commissioner Price asked if the Department of Transportation (DOT) allotted $580,654, <br /> with the State giving half and the County giving half. She asked if clarification could be <br /> provided. <br /> Theo Letman said the total grant application amount is $580,654, with 50% coming from <br /> Federal funds, and 50% coming from State/local funds. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Bedford, to <br /> open the public hearing. <br /> Chair Rich asked Commissioners to accept a roll call form of voting and called names <br /> accordingly. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: <br /> NONE <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Greene to <br /> close the public hearing. <br /> Chair Rich asked Commissioners to accept a roll call form of voting and called names <br /> accordingly. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Bedford to: <br /> • Approve the Urbanized Area Formula Grant application for FY2021 in the total amount of <br /> $580,654 with a local match total of$290,327 to be provided when necessary; <br /> • Approve and authorize the Chair to sign the Local Share Certification for Funding form; <br /> and <br /> • Authorize the County Attorney to review and complete the necessary 2021 certifications <br /> and assurances when they are received (2020 versions attached as examples). <br />
