The agreement also adtlresses how the Salitl WastelLand611 <br />Operations Enterprise Fund Is to be reimbursetl if the property is put to uses that ere no[ related <br />to the solitl waste enterydse. The agreement an[icipetea that the Greene Tract awnere will <br />reach agreement on Ne tlisposidon of the property during a bargaining period that would <br />mnGUde on April 17, 2002 (the two year anniversary pf the e5ective date upon which Orange <br />County easumetl overall responsibility for solid waste management in Orenge Couny). <br />in May 2001, the BOCC appointetl Commissioners Brown antl Carey to serve on a Greene <br />Trec[ work group with two elep[etl oficials each ham the goveming boertls of Camboro antl <br />Chapel Hill. Cartboro appointed Altlermen Alex ZaSron and Jacquelyn Gist, and Chapel Hill <br />appointed Council members Bill Strom and Kevin Foy. The group is likely lb have its initial <br />meeting dutlng Nefirst week of September. Commissioners Brawn end Carey, wlN Support <br />from aloft, will briefly update the full BoaN on the generel process antl timeline they propose tc <br />pursue in developing rewmmentlations from [he work group back to Ne three goveming boards <br />regarding the ultimate tlisposition ofthe 109-acre portion of the Greene Trec[. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There isno fnanclalimpac[assodaletl with the receipt of this update. <br />However, the County and Towns will be obligetl to reimhurae the LarM611 Fund for [he orginal <br />1981 pu¢hase price of $608,000, plus interest, if the Greene Tract is used for purposes other <br />than those. of the solitl waste system. <br />
