Health Director's Report <br /> July-August 2020 <br /> • July 8 & 10, 2020—participated on State Health Coordinating Council Public Hearings <br /> • July 8-10, 2020—conducted first round of Dental Director Interviews; Thank You Sam <br /> Lasris for participating on the panel as our Dentist Representative from the Board of <br /> Health. <br /> • July 13, 2020—NCALHD Executive Committee Call <br /> • July 16, 2020—NC Association of Local Health Directors Meeting(Virtual) <br /> • July 10, 2020—United Way interview to discuss impact of COVID-19 on community <br /> and disproportionate impact in communities of color. <br /> • July 21, 2020—planning meeting with UNC Game Day staff <br /> • July 22, 2020— Southern Orange Testing Event at Carrboro High School. We tested 203 <br /> individuals; provided mask and community health information/resources. StarMed <br /> Urgent and Family Care, P.A. provided the testing. <br /> • July 23, 2020—UNC Public Safety/Health Partner Call; reopening planning and response <br /> • August 5 — 8, 2020—2nd round of Dental Director interviews for 2 finalist <br /> • August 11, 2020—Child Fatality Prevention Team Meeting (Virtual) <br /> • August 12, 2020—Meeting with Clinic Supervisors to discuss clinic schedule and <br /> staffing needs <br /> • August 14, 2020—NCALHD New Health Director Orientation(Virtual) <br /> • August 16, 2020—COVID-19 Update for Northern Orange NAACP Meeting <br /> • August 20, 2020—COVID-19 Update for Chamber's Big Bold Ideas Steering Committee <br /> • NC DHHS is sending additional COVID-19 testing capacity to 7 counties across the <br /> State. Orange is included in this group. StarMed Urgent and Family Care, P.A. will <br /> coordinate the new testing sites with local health departments, prioritize a community <br /> testing approach by connecting individuals with medical homes, provide services with <br /> culturally and linguistically appropriate standards and work within existing trusted <br /> community partnerships. <br /> • NC DHHS is expanding mental health supports for teachers, school personnel and <br /> families. They are expanding the expanding the Hope4Healers Helpline (919-226-2002). <br /> Hope4Healers is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week. When teachers, school <br /> personnel or family members call the helpline, they will speak to someone who is trained <br /> to listen and offer support. They then will be contacted within about a day by a licensed <br /> mental health professional for a free, confidential, short-term follow-up by phone or <br /> video chat. <br /> • Key activities related to UNC Re-opening—working closely with campus health to <br /> complete contact tracing and case investigation; setting up testing opportunities for off <br /> campus students; working with Greek life to get a handle on testing and reporting and <br /> appropriate pandemic behavior. <br />
