Health Director's Report June 2020 • June 5,2020—Northern Orange Testing Event at Mt.Zion A.M.E. Church in Hillsborough. We tested 147 individuals;provided mask and community health information/resources. This was collaboration between Orange County Health Department,UNC PNC and UNC Health RDC. • June 10,2020- State Health Coordinating Council; review and approval of NC Proposed 2021 State Medical Facilities Plan; Public Hearings for comments on the proposed plan will occur via WebEx during the month of July(Virtual Meeting) • June 10,2020—Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) -local leadership has directed the establishment of a LTRG to ensure a coordinated recovery process for COVID-19 aimed at a whole-community approach. The LTRG is divided into 7 Recovery Support Functions: ■ RSF 1 —Economic ■ RSF 2—Health (OC Health Director to serve as primary coordinator) ■ RSF 3—Human Services ■ RSF 4—Housing ■ RSF 5—Natural/Cultural Resources ■ RSF 6—Community Planning and Capacity Building ■ RSF 7—Public Information and Inter-governmental Affairs • June 12,2020-All Staff meeting; this meeting included a presentation of Employee of the Quarter(Ms.Angela Sowers,EH Specialist),announcement about employee transition to Human Rights &Relations(Susan Clifford),and updates on FY 20-21 Budget and COVID-19. The Racial Equity Commission(REC) also facilitated breakout groups to discuss recent webinars, social media posts and other items related to equity in the COVID-19 era. • June 15,2020—Family Success Alliance Coordinating Council meeting(Virtual); informative presentation from Dr. Mike Steiner on the Integrated Care for Kids Program • June 16,2020-The Orange County Board of County Commissioners(BOCC)voted to approve the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Budget Ordinance, County Grant Projects, and County Fee Schedule. (Approved unanimously) • June 17,2020—Meeting with Ed Kerwin,Executive Director of OWASA,to discuss transition after his retirement, effective July 6,2020. • June 18,2020—NC Association of Local Health Directors Meeting(Virtual) Upcoming Events • Pam McCall is retiring as the OCHD Personal Health Services Director(Nursing Director), effective August 12,2020.Pam has served the Orange County community for more than 20 years. Her dedication and passion to public health in North Carolina will missed greatly. Please join me in wishing Pam well in her Retirement!
