04/14/2020 <br /> commissions. <br /> • The Board approved creating a full time Deputy <br /> Sheriff I Position in the Orange County Sheriff's Office <br /> for assignment to Eno River Academy. <br /> • In December 2019 the Board to certified seven (7) <br /> farm properties totaling 375 acres and designated <br /> them as Voluntary Agricultural District farms within <br /> the Caldwell, Cedar Grove, High Rock/Efland, <br /> Schley/Eno, White Cross, and Cane Creek/Buckhorn <br /> Voluntary Agricultural Districts; and enrolled the lands <br /> in the Orange County Farmland Preservation <br /> Program; Voluntary and Enhanced Voluntary <br /> Agricultural District (VAD and EVAD) programs. The <br /> Orange County Farmland Preservation program has <br /> enrolled 121 farms totaling 12,868 acres in the VAD <br /> and 2,566 acres in the EVAD for a total of 15,434 <br /> acres in the program. <br /> • The Board approved the creation of a full time time- <br /> limited position at DSS to provide assessment and <br /> case management for homeless persons with mental <br /> health needs. <br /> Chapel Hill Town Physical . The Council received a presentation on current bike <br /> Council Activity and and pedestrian projects, funding streams, the Town's <br /> Nutrition, implementation process, and allocations in October <br /> Equity 2019. <br /> Carrboro Town Physical . In October2019, the Board of Alderman received an <br /> Council Activity and update on the Town's Affordable Housing Goals and <br /> Nutrition; Strategies. The board recognized the high rental <br /> Social costs relative to the market and the need for more <br /> Determinants affordable housing. <br /> of Health . In November 2019, the board discussed increasing <br /> the diversity of town boards by reviewing the <br /> application process. <br /> • In November the board also officially will be known as <br /> a council and not Alderman in order to be gender <br /> neutral. <br /> • The council authorized contingency funding to <br /> support the Sankofa African-American Museum on <br /> Wheels event scheduled for Jan. 2020. <br /> • The council received a report on the comprehensive <br /> bicycle transportation plan. <br /> Hillsborough Social . In December 2019, the Hillsborough Town Council <br /> Board of Determinants welcomed the first woman mayor for the Town of <br /> Commissioners of Health Hillsborough, Jenn Weaver. <br />
