04/14/2020 <br /> Biannual Report <br /> Board of Health Engagement <br /> \RT BOH SUMMARY <br /> PRIORITY <br /> Orange County Substance Minutes only current online up to October 2019* <br /> Schools Board of Abuse and <br /> Education Mental Health, • The Board chair attended OHS meeting in <br /> Physical association with the Health Department in regards to <br /> Activity and drugs and alcohol. <br /> Nutrition, • The Board intends to go through a Board Equity <br /> Equity Training in Jan 2020. <br /> • Dr. Felder was welcomed as the new Superintendent <br /> of Orange County Schools <br /> Chapel Currently no updates related to the Board of Health. <br /> Hill/Carrboro City <br /> Schools Board of <br /> Education <br /> DEAPR — Parks Physical • Blackwood Farm Park update — Sketches for the <br /> and REC Council Activity and next phase with possible facilities are being <br /> Nutrition developed including a disc golf course and <br /> amphitheater. <br /> • Orange County recently acquired land near Cane <br /> Creek that will provide a section of the Mountain to <br /> Sea corridor and trailhead. There is also additional <br /> work to connect Occoneechee Mountain to Seven <br /> Mile Creek (Phase 1) and Phase II will connect Cane <br /> Creek area to Seven Mile Creek. <br /> Board of County Social In October 2019, Commissioner Price petitioned the <br /> Commissioners Determinants Board to support a collaborative effort between the <br /> of Health, Orange County Health Department and UNC Medical <br /> Physical regarding the opioid epidemic. Later in the month, the <br /> Activity, Board approved expressing support for an Opioid <br /> Substance Task Force to coordinate efforts to address opioid <br /> Abuse & overdose in Orange County and will be facilitated <br /> Mental Health jointly by the Orange County Health Department and <br /> the UNC Medical Center. <br /> • In October 2019, the Board approved a contract with <br /> Lifeline Mobile for $445,748 to purchase a mobile <br /> dental clinic, and authorized the Manager to sign the <br /> contract. <br /> • In November 2019 the Board approved changes to <br /> the volunteer application for advisory boards and <br />
