Health Director's Report <br /> March 2020 <br /> • COVID-19 (formerly known as Coronavirus)—March 10,2020—Orange County Emergency Management and I <br /> co-presented an update to BOCC about COVID-19.We briefed the Commissioners on the State status since NC <br /> received its first positive case on March 3,2020, criteria for COVID-19 testing, and planning efforts with other <br /> human service agencies. The department continues to participate on weekly call with Emergency Management <br /> and community partners.NC Department of Health and Human Services continues to provide guidance to <br /> partners regarding COVID-19. <br /> • Census 2020—April 1st is the official Census Day. Be Counted Sites were scheduled to open on March 16. <br /> However,the community's response to COVID-19 has pushed this date back. If you have meetings scheduled <br /> between now and the first week of April,we ask that you remind folks to complete the Census. Remember to <br /> share the Census videos that explain the importance of the Census and the benefits for the County.All the videos, <br /> including versions in English,Kinyarwanda,Burmese,Karen,Mandarin and Arabic are <br /> here: https://www.orangecountVnc.gov/2092/Census-2020 <br /> • Opioid Task Force Meeting—Meetings have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 response efforts. <br /> Upcoming Events <br /> Many of our events have been postponed in an effort to implement social distancing during this phase of the COVID-19 <br /> event. <br />
