Fluoride Sub- Committee' s proposal for BOH plan to review fluoridation of water — 7918018 <br /> After BOH ' s approval of the plan , the Fluoride Sub- Committee will respond to OWASA' s Nov 3 , 2017 <br /> letter, as follows : <br /> 1 . Recognizing that there is public dissent on the issue of fluoridation , we welcome OWASA' s request <br /> for our review <br /> 2 . Present a summary of our planned review process, to include : <br /> a . Secure review panel to include dental and medical experts <br /> b . Compile community feedback already provided to OWASA <br /> c . Invite public comment : <br /> i . Public announcement of BOH review <br /> ii . Two -week on - line opportunity for public to provide comment <br /> d . Request expert panel address fluoridation and provide their observations and findings, to <br /> include : <br /> i . Address key concerns provided through public comment ( both to OWASA and BOH ) <br /> ii . Reference latest science on the effects of fluoridation on all aspects of human <br /> health <br /> 1 . For example, evidence of human health benefits from public water <br /> fluoridation , especially as this pertains to oral health <br /> 2 . For example, evidence of potential human harms, with special focus on <br /> possible adverse neurologic and endocrinological effects <br /> iii . Utilize public health framework in the review process <br /> e . The Fluoride Committee will review the expert panel ' s report and present to BOH for <br /> consensus on endorsement <br /> f. The BOH will submit the BOH - endorsed report to OWASA <br /> g . The BOH will assist OWASA in communicating the report to the public & stakeholders <br /> i . After report is received , OWASA can decide on the process of how to share with <br /> public and consult with BOH on their role in assisting in that process <br />
