The FDA <br /> classifies fluoride in drinking water as a contaminant and it is regulated to not exceed a concentration of <br /> 4 ppm (see FDA website: https://www.epa.gov/dwstandardsregulations). Other fluoride compounds <br /> such as those used in toothpaste (e.g. Sodium fluoride, stannous fluoride etc.) are classified and <br /> regulated differently.
