See Attachment 5. <br /> During the June 27, 2018 meeting the Ad Hoc Fluoride Committee provided an update to the full <br /> Board outlining proposed methods to fulfill OWASA's request. See Attachment 6. The next Ad Hoc <br /> meeting was held on July 18, 2018. During that meeting, committee members decided to: <br /> ➢ Secure dental and medical experts to serve on a panel <br /> ➢ Compile public feedback from OWASA meetings <br /> ➢ Invite additional public comment <br /> ➢ Ask experts to respond to public comment and reference the latest science on fluoridation <br /> See Attachment 7. <br /> On August 22, 2018 the Ad Hoc Committee updated the full Board on the plan to move forward <br /> with the fluoride review process. The Board agreed with the plan as presented. See Attachment 8. The <br /> Board of Health then drafted a letter letting OWASA know of the review process plans that the Board <br /> agreed with. See Attachment 9. <br /> The Ad Hoc Committee drafted a letter in order to secure medical, dental, and toxicology <br /> experts. The letter of request was emailed to recommended, local colleagues as well as statewide <br /> societies including the NC Society of Toxicologists, NC Neurological Society, and the Carolinas Chapter <br /> of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. See Attachment 10. Another update was <br /> provided to the full Board on the progress of the committee during the October 24, 2018 BOH meeting. <br /> See Attachment 11. <br /> The Ad Hoc Committee drafted a community survey intended to garner public comments on <br /> fluoridation of drinking water for OWASA customers.
