SECTION V - WELL WATER SUPPLIES FOR RENTAL <br /> PROPERTIES <br /> 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to offer for rent, to offer for lease, or to <br /> offer for occupation for non-monetary consideration any residence or place of <br /> business without a potable water supply. <br /> 2. Any well that is found to have contaminant levels exceeding the safe levels <br /> established by the NC Department of Public Health Epidemiology Sections <br /> shall not be used by renters or lessees until the well has been repaired in a <br /> manner approved by the OCHD and water samples taken from the well after <br /> the repair is complete indicate the water to be safe for human consumption. <br /> 3. If a well is contaminated and cannot be repaired or the repair is ineffectual, an <br /> approved alternate supply shall be provided except as provided for in(4) <br /> below. <br /> 4. Repaired wells, which have recurring bacteriological contamination, may be <br /> approved for use when approved continuous disinfection methods are <br /> provided, except when the well is contaminated with fecal coliform. Wells <br /> contaminated with fecal coliform shall not be approved for rental use and <br /> shall be repaired or abandoned. <br /> Eff. July 1, 2008; Amended eff.
