For a well on a lot serving a single-family dwelling where lot size or other <br /> fixed conditions preclude the separation distances specified in Subparagraph <br /> (A) (2) of this Rule, the required horizontal separation distances shall be the <br /> maximum possible but shall in no case be less than the following: <br /> Septic tank,pump tank,pretreatment components and 50 ft. <br /> drainfield including drainfield repair areas, except saprolite <br /> systems as defined in 15A NCAC 18A .1956(6) <br /> Water-tight sewage or liquid-waste collection or transfer <br /> facility constructed to water main standards in accordance 25 ft. <br /> with 15A NCAC 02T .0305(g) (2) or Orange County <br /> Regulations for Wastewater Treatment and Disposal <br /> Systems rule .1950(e), as applicable <br /> Animal barns 50 ft. <br /> Existing building foundations 25 ft. <br /> Property lines 10 ft. <br /> Existing in-ground swimming pools 25 ft. <br /> Land-based or subsurface waste storage or disposal systems 50 ft. <br /> 4. Minimum separation distances from all other potential sources of groundwater <br /> contamination shall be those specified in Subparagraph (A) (2) of this Rule. <br /> 5. No person shall cause a potential source of groundwater contamination as <br /> described in Section II (A) (2) or Section 11 (A)(3) of these Rules to be placed <br /> closer to a well site or an existing well than the referenced distances specified. <br /> History Note: Substitute for NCAC 02C.0107 <br /> Eff. The source of water for any water supply well shall not be from a water <br /> bearing zone or aquifer that is contaminated. <br /> 2. If a well is constructed to obtain water from an unconsolidated rock formation, <br /> prior approval from the OCHD shall be required. The well shall be equipped <br /> with a screen or screens to prevent the entrance of formation material into the <br /> well after the well has been developed and completed by the well contractor. <br /> The well screen(s) shall meet the requirements of Section II (F) of these <br /> Rules. <br /> 3. All water supply wells shall be constructed so that a pump with a capacity <br /> equal to the well capacity(within the practical limits of pumps for a given <br /> diameter well) can be installed and operated without binding or without <br /> interference by contact with any part of the well. <br /> History Note: Substitute for NCAC 02C.0107 <br /> Eff.
