DISINFECTION OF WATER SUPPLY WELLS <br /> 1.Any person constructing, repairing,testing, or performing maintenance, or installing a <br /> pump in a water supply well shall disinfect the well upon completion of construction, <br /> repairs,testing, maintenance,or pump installation. <br /> 2.Any person disinfecting a well shall perform disinfection in accordance with the <br /> following procedures: <br /> a)Chlorination) Comment[VH68]:OCHD REQUIREMENTTO USE <br /> A RY,GRANULAR CHLORINE ONLY TO ENSURE THAT <br /> (1)Granular calcium hypochlorite shall be placed in the well in sufficient ALL WELL CONTRACTORS USE THE PROPER <br /> CONCENTRATION OF DISINFECTION AS A DRY <br /> quantities to produce a chlorine residual of at least 100 parts per million MEASURE(MASS) <br /> (ppm)in the well. Use pH <br /> lowering and disinfection products in the manner that the manufacturer <br /> intends. <br /> b)The granular calcium hypochlorite shall be applied to the well through the top <br /> of the well and allowed to settle to the bottom. <br /> c)The water shall be recirculated to: <br /> (1) Distribute the chlorine throughout the water column of the well, and; <br /> (2)Wash down the well casing, pump column and any other equipment <br /> above the water level in the well. <br /> 3.The chlorine solution shall stand in the well for a period of at least 24 hours. <br /> 4.The well shall be pumped until the system is clear of the chlorine before the system is <br /> placed in use. <br /> 5.
