a)The coupling shall completely cover the threads when joined. <br /> b)The minimum wall thickness for a given diameter shall equal or exceed that <br /> specified in Table I; <br /> Table I - Minimum Wall Thickness for Steel Casing <br /> Nominal Diameter(inches) Wall Thickness(inches) <br /> 6 0.185 <br /> 8 0.250 <br /> 10 0.279 <br /> 12 0.330 <br /> 14 and larger 0.375 <br /> 6.All steel casing shall be equipped with a drive shoe at the lowest terminus to protect <br /> the casing from damage during installation. The drive shoe shall be made of forged, <br /> high carbon,tempered seamless steel and shall have a beveled, hardened cutting <br /> edge. If a casing is not driven, a coupling may be used in lieu of the drive shoe when <br /> it meets or exceeds the specifications of paragraph (D)(4)above. <br /> 7. The top of the casing shall be cut off smooth and level by the drilling contractor at <br /> least twelve inches above land surface and shall be free from dents and cracks. Prior <br /> to removing equipment from the site, the top opening of the well casing shall be <br /> sealed with a watertight cap or well seal to prevent the introduction of contaminants <br /> into the well. <br /> 8.The casing in wells constructed to obtain water from a consolidated rock formation <br /> shall be: <br /> a)Adequate to prevent any formation material from entering the well in excess of <br /> the levels specified in Section 11 (H)of this Rule; and <br /> b) Firmly seated and sealed at least five feet into consolidated rock, and <br /> c)Cased to a depth of at least 62 feet below the natural ground surface. <br /> However, when it is not possible to achieve 62 feet of casing due to unstable <br /> obstructions of the borehole or collapse, less than 62 feet may be allowed with <br /> following provisions: <br /> (1)Consultation with and approval by the OCHD has been obtained, and <br /> (2)The casing shall extend at least 20 feet from the land surface, and <br /> (3)The casing shall be firmly seated and sealed at least five feet into <br /> consolidated rock, and <br /> (4)A grouted liner and sealing packer shall be installed to a depth of at <br /> least 62 feet from the land surface. <br /> 9. Upon completion of the well, the well shall be sufficiently free of obstacles including <br /> 21 <br />
