The purpose of
this award is to operate programs, identified by the OCJP, which address adult offenders
sentenced to intermediate sanctions.
With these grant dollars, the OCJP supports the pre-trial release program. This program,
administered through contractual arrangements with Orange-Chatham Alternative Sentencing,
addresses jail overcrowding by moving inmate-related data expeditiously through the criminal
justice system. In addition, the OCJP supports a continuum of services for this population.
Such treatment programs are provided through contracts with OPC Mental Health Center and
Project Turn Around.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Program services are primarily provided through CJPP grant funds. The
County currently contributes $8,250 towards pre-trial release program services and $11,519 for
administrative support to the OCJP.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board accepts the grant award
and authorizes the chair to sign contingent upon staff review.
