Proclamation Recognizing the Services and Contributions of Retiring Major David <br /> 24 Lewis Caldwell, Jr. <br /> 25 The Board considered voting to approve a proclamation recognizing Retiring Major <br /> 26 David Lewis Caldwell, Jr. for his services to Orange County. <br /> 27 Sheriff Blackwood, in a pre-recorded video, made the following presentation. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 BACKGROUND: <br /> 30 David Caldwell has been a lifelong resident of Orange County, a champion for environmental <br /> 31 justice, a career member of the Orange County Sheriff's Office and a respected leader <br /> 32 throughout the Orange County community. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 David Caldwell was one of the founding members and served on the Rogers-Eubanks <br /> 35 Neighborhood Association (RENA) as a Project Director. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 David Caldwell retired from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, for a second time, in 2020 as a <br /> 38 Major of Support Services and Community Outreach. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 41 PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE SERVICES AND CONTRIBUTIONS <br /> 42 OF RETIRING MAJOR DAVID LEWIS CALDWELL, JR. OF THE <br /> 43 ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br /> 44 <br /> 45 WHEREAS, Major David Lewis Caldwell, Jr. is retiring from the Orange County Sheriff's Office; <br /> 46 and <br /> 47 <br /> 48 WHEREAS, David Caldwell grew up in the Rogers Road area on the outskirts of Chapel Hill; <br /> 49 and <br /> 50 <br />
