There is a big change. Over the last two years the artists' grants included <br /> professional development also. The Arts Center is the fiscal agent for the <br /> relief fund. For the county to provide funds, there has to be something <br /> coming back. The Artist Support Grant through the state replaces the <br /> Emerging Artist Grants. <br /> Grant training programs for artists and organizations will be held on the <br /> 21st and 23rd. Mark your calendars for September 8-11 for grant review. <br /> VI. Liaison Reports <br /> a. Hillsborough Arts Council <br /> The last 4 t/2 months have been difficult. The arts council is working through <br /> the difficulties to provide outdoor arts events including a garden concert and <br /> a traveling sound truck with a band. The gift shop opened on Julylwith <br /> precautions in place. Paint it Orange will be a virtual event, Paint it in NC. <br /> The council is working on an online literary program. <br /> b. The ArtsCenter <br /> The center began offering classes online in April. There have been some <br /> changes in staff. There is a relief effort for teaching artists. Summer camp <br /> is ongoing with rules in place and reduced numbers of campers. Federal loans <br /> and donations have helped. A building permit has been submitted for the <br /> new building. <br /> C. Visitor's Bureau <br /> Rentals are meager in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Many in the hotel community <br /> are out of work. Take out meals help the restaurants. The next meeting is on <br /> August 19tn <br /> d. Orange County Artists Guild <br /> The tour has been cancelled for the fall. Online shows will be on the <br /> square space site for sales and exhibitions. <br /> VII. Advocacy Updates <br /> a. Covid-19 resources discussion <br /> Katie is frequently sending out information on resources for artists. <br /> III. Advisory Board Update (moved to end of agenda) <br /> a. OCAC Advisory Board Nominations <br /> i. Matthew Keith, UNC Student Liaison. Tim motioned to approve <br /> Matthew. Anita seconded. <br /> ii. We need to think about nominations for our upcoming vacancy. <br /> Fred moved to adjourn the meeting.
