On this basis, the ASAB <br />is unanimously making the following recommendations to the Board of County <br />Commissioners: <br /> <br />• Lori Gershon (position 10: animal welfare or animal advocacy): Ms. Gershon is an <br />attorney with broad experience with animal cruelty in the legal system. <br />Specifically, she has handled cruelty cases both as a Senior Deputy County <br />Attorney and as an Assistant District Attorney. Ms. Gershon attended the July <br />2020 ASAB meeting. <br />• Allan Polak (position 12: certified animal handler or trainer): Mr. Polak is a <br />certified search and rescue dog handler with extensive experience handling dogs. <br />Currently, he is a member of the Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool. He attended <br />the January ASAB meeting. <br />• Susan Spinks (position 13: owner or manager of retail pet services): Ms. Spinks <br />owns Hearth and Hounds Dog Training, a dog training business based in Chapel <br />Hill. She also manages the Dog Training Program at Paws4/Ever in Mebane.
