I also am a member of the American <br />Council on Germany. My wife works for the university, and my daughter is in day care <br />near campus. We are also members of St. Thomas s Church. <br />Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br />None. <br />Boards/Commissions appointments: <br />Age Range:35-59 <br />Animal Services Advisory Board <br />Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br />I have an MBA from UNC, a graduate degree from Georgetown, and an undergraduate degree <br />from the University of Chicago. I have lived around the world as a journalist, and can bring in <br />many outside perspectives and solution to help solve problems. As a journalist, I have covered <br />governments globally so I have a great understanding of how it functions, but still have a lot to <br />learn.I have also been a responsible pet owner for the last 20 years. <br />Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br />I want to get involved in local government in some capacity to better know my Chapel Hill <br />neighbors. I am also passionate about animal welfare. Finally, I want to start to introduce my <br />daughter into how civic life works. <br />Conflict of Interest: <br />Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board: <br />I have had the opportunity to live all over the world, as well as in major cities across the country. <br />As a journalist, I have reported on pet conditions in a number of different countries. I can bring a <br />unique perspective to the Animal Services Advisory Board based on these experiences. <br />17
