Fire District Tax Rates 24
25
26
27
Amendment 001 and 002- 28
Commissioner Greene said the $20,000 is requested because the house needs 29
$30,000 by September 1, and a generous board member has a bought a house they 30
can lease, but they need $30,000 in the bank. 31
Commissioner Price said it is her understanding that the program applied 32
through the outside agency process, and did not make the cut. 33
Commissioner Greene said the program did not qualify because it had not 34
applied before, but their mission is so aligned with the justice work being done by the 35
County. She said there is so little reentry housing, and this is a more unique 36
organization. She said the requested money is for the rent, and the program plans for 37
its residents to be working and paying rent. She said this is start up funding. 38
Commissioner Price said the BOCC had an unofficial agreement to follow the 39
Manager’s guidance. She said she supports the program, but her concern is the 40
$20,000 for a start up. She said she would like some sort of partnership for a year, to 41
insure it is sustainable. 42
Bonnie Hammersley said the outside agencies process was a little different this 43
year, and did not follow the typical formula. She said no new agencies were awarded 44
funding. She said if the Board approves this amendment, the program would have to 45
follow all outside agencies’ processes and procedures. 46
Commissioner Price said she does not want it to look like the BOCC is giving 47
preferential treatment. She said perhaps the County could be more hands on in the 48
management of the funding, and this should be more of a partnership, as opposed to a 49
typical outside agency. 50
Chair Rich said she agreed with Commissioner Price, and does not want to give 51
funding to those who lobbied the BOCC, when others did not know that doing so was 52
even a possibility. 53
6
