12 <br /> o Handicap Pool Lift - $12,000 <br /> o Pool Robotic Vacuums - $15,000 <br /> FY2020-21 Recommended Sportsplex Projects <br /> Commissioner Bedford asked if there is a possibility of opening the pool. <br /> John Stock said yes, the pool will open on June 1st with limited capacity and extra <br /> cleanings. He said dressing rooms will still remain closed. <br /> John Stock said the Sportsplex is a competitive business, and he has found that many <br /> competitors are trying to find loopholes in the Executive Order, but he is going to maintain tight <br /> observation of the County's directives. He said the Sportsplex will probably lose some <br /> programming, but it is cutting some expenditure. <br /> Travis Myren resumed the PowerPoint presentation: <br /> Economic Development (ED) — page 143 <br /> Steve Brantley, Economic Development Director, in attendance <br /> • Total expenditure budget - $516,212 <br /> o Reduction of ($9,681) <br /> o Offsetting Transfer from Article 46 Sales Tax <br /> Grant Activity History - graph <br /> Chapel Hill Orange County Visitors Bureau — page 143 <br /> Laurie Paolicelli, Visitors Bureau Director, in attendance <br /> • Total expenditure budget - $1,415,126 —offset by occupancy tax <br /> o FY2019-20 Projection Reduced by 15% Compared to FY2018-19 <br /> (244,463) <br /> o FY2020-21 Budget Reduced by of 13% Compared to New <br /> Projection ($180,503) <br /> Commissioner Marcoplos asked if this crisis has affected the ED projects that have been <br /> approved for Orange County. <br /> Steve Brantley said there were 4 ED announcements last year: 1.) ABB is on schedule; <br /> 2.) Medline project site work going on, and is a bit behind, but they are moving forward; 3.) <br /> Piedmont Metal Working is on schedule; and 4.) the medical company downtown in Chapel Hill <br /> is on a delay. He said the inquiries from the state dipped the last two months, but are picking up <br /> again. He said his department is very concerned about small businesses, and he thanked the <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners for the first round of small business grants and loans. <br /> Travis Myren resumed the PowerPoint presentation: <br /> Article 46 Sales Tax— page 64 <br /> Total projected collections - $3,885,168 <br /> o 4.5% Decrease from FY2019-20 Budget <br /> • 50% or $1,942,584 Allocated to Schools and Distributed by Average Daily <br /> Membership (ADM) <br /> o Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools - $1,168,270 for Technology <br /> o Orange County Schools - $744,314 for Technology <br /> Article 46 Sales Tax— page 64-chart <br /> • 50% allocated to Economic Development- $1,942,584 <br />
