<br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding
<br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for
<br /> themselves and their dependents.
<br /> Non-Departmental — Coronavirus Relief Funding (CRF) — Round 1
<br /> 2. At its May 19, 2020 Virtual Business Meeting, the Board of Commissioners approved the
<br /> Coronavirus Relief Funding (CRF) Round 1 funding allocation of $1,546,136 to the
<br /> County and a total of $1,119,617 to the municipalities of Chapel Hill, Carrboro,
<br /> Hillsborough, and Mebane, based on a per capita allocation, and at its June 16, 2020
<br /> meeting, approved the receipt of the funds totaling $2,665,753. As of June 30, 2020,
<br /> funds totaling $1,326,713 had been utilized per the approved funding allocation. This
<br /> budget amendment provides for the receipt of $1,339,040 in deferred revenue for use of
<br /> these remaining funds in FY 20-21. (See Attachment 1, column #2)

<br /> South Orange Fire Service District
<br /> 3. The Town of Carrboro Fire Department provides fire protection for the South Orange Fire
<br /> Service District through a contract between the County and the Town. The Carrboro
<br /> Town Council has requested the use of $125,000 from the South Orange Fire Service
<br /> District's available fund balance to provide funding for the purchase of a water tanker
<br /> truck. This budget amendment provides for the appropriation of $125,000 from the
<br /> district's fund balance for the above stated purpose. With this appropriation,
<br /> approximately $61,000 remains available in the district's fund balance. (See Attachment
<br /> 1, column #3 and Attachment 3)
<br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is

<br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries,
<br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence.
<br /> Board of Elections
<br /> 4. Orange County Board of Elections has received notification of a 2020 CARES Act Sub-
<br /> grant award of $143,766, as well as a 2020 HAVA (Help America Vote Act) Sub-grant
<br /> award of $10,000. The budget period for the CARES Act funds is July 1, 2020 —
<br /> December 31, 2020, and the budget period for the HAVA funds is July 1, 2020 — June
<br /> 30, 2021 . Both the CARES Act and HAVA funds will be used to prevent, prepare for, and
<br /> respond to the coronavirus pandemic during the 2020 federal election cycle. This budget
