3 <br /> 1 said many school districts have severed relationships with these police across the country. He <br /> 2 petitioned to set up a committee with members from the Orange County Board of <br /> 3 Commissioners and the school districts to discuss this topic. <br /> 4 Chair Rich asked if Commissioner Dorosin anticipates this discussion starting now. <br /> 5 Commissioner Dorosin said the sooner it can start, the better. <br /> 6 Chair Rich said she could reach out to the school boards if the Board is in agreement to <br /> 7 set up this committee. <br /> 8 Chair Rich said she had a meeting with the Mayors and the UNC Acting Chancellor of <br /> 9 Student Affairs, Jonathan Sauls. She said much more detail has been included in the UNC <br /> 10 roadmap, and the University has reached out to the Health Department and Orange County. <br /> 11 She said UNC is used to doing contact tracing with the students, and some students have <br /> 12 returned. She said all have been tested, and all tests are negative thus far. She said everyone <br /> 13 will be required to wear masks on campus, no matter where one is. She said the University is <br /> 14 unclear as to how many students will come back to campus. She said visitors will not be <br /> 15 allowed on the UNC Campus when the students come back. She said the University is <br /> 16 considering its professors, as many are over the age of 60, and it plans to be flexible. She said <br /> 17 the University is open to communication as any time. <br /> 18 Chair Rich said today's Covid meeting reported that Orange County is not going in the <br /> 19 right direction, and the Health Department is trying to get more contract tracers onboard. She <br /> 20 said it will get worse before it gets better, and the County has yet to hit the peak of its first <br /> 21 wave. She said the rest of the state also has rising numbers, and it is unsure when the second <br /> 22 wave will come. <br /> 23 Chair Rich thanked staff and managers for getting the County through these challenging <br /> 24 times. <br /> 25 Chair Rich said the Board is supposed to come back in September and meet in person, <br /> 26 and she suggested that the Board start with a hybrid meeting process. <br /> 27 Chair Rich said there is still time to do the census. <br /> 28 Chair Rich said parents in the County contacted her and reported that it has been <br /> 29 difficult to do remote learning in some areas of the County. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 4.
