He said it is a long process to become a 501-c-3, and hoping that one will have legal 21 standing by the time the funds are awarded seems unrealistic. He said it is important to be 22 clear as to the definition of"non-profit" that is being used; and asked if this means a 501-c-3, or 23 organized as a non profit under North Carolina State law. 24 John Roberts said the policy does not currently specify the definition of a non-profit. 25 Commissioner Dorosin asked if it makes a difference in giving out funding, and can the 26 BOCC give money to an entity that is non-profit, but not a 501 c-3.
