Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 19 Commissioner Greene said she will forward a PowerPoint presentation to the Board, <br /> 20 from Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG), made by an RDU representative. <br /> 21 Commissioner Bedford said the Partnership for Young Children will instruct daycares to <br /> 22 openly carefully and safely. <br /> 23 Commissioner Marcoplos said he had no comments. <br /> 24 Commissioner Price petitioned that public transit riders be required to wear masks, <br /> 25 since a large majority of the drivers are African-American, who are a vulnerable population. <br /> 26 Commissioner Dorosin said he heard that UNC was no longer capturing methane gas <br /> 27 from the old landfill site. He asked if the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) could get <br /> 28 more information about that, and, if this is no longer happening, what are the ramifications <br /> 29 ecologically and financially. <br /> 30 Commissioner McKee said he had no comments. <br /> 31 Chair Rich said there was a Covid meeting this morning, and there is an uptick in cases <br /> 32 in Orange County, but no more deaths. She said this past weekend the health department <br /> 33 heard there was a trend, and therefore they are out tracking this. <br /> 34 Chair Rich said the County is slowly moving into a recovery plan, and a consultant is <br /> 35 being hired for this process. <br /> 36 Commissioner McKee asked if the increase in cases is due to an increase in testing. <br /> 37 Chair Rich said she has not read the meeting notes yet, and she will get that <br /> 38 information and let him know as soon as possible. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 4. Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Item 4a-ADDED TO AGENDA (no abstract) <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Commissioner Price said the moment of silence is for those who have died due to racial <br /> 45 violence. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Moment of Silence. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 Chair Rich said Annette Moore, Human Rights and Relations Director, wrote this <br /> 50 resolution in the last day, and did not have time to write an abstract, but the resolution speaks <br /> 51 for itself. <br />
