1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: September 1, 2020 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-c <br /> SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing the Services and Contributions of Retiring Major <br /> David Lewis Caldwell, Jr. <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Proclamation David Hunt, 919-245-2126 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider a proclamation recognizing Retiring Major David Lewis Caldwell, Jr. for <br /> his services to Orange County. <br /> BACKGROUND: David Caldwell has been a lifelong resident of Orange County, a champion <br /> for environmental justice, a career member of the Orange County Sheriff's Office and a <br /> respected leader throughout the Orange County community. <br /> David Caldwell was one of the founding members and served on the Rogers-Eubanks <br /> Neighborhood Association (RENA) as a Project Director. <br /> David Caldwell retired from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, for a second time, in 2020 as a <br /> Major of Support Services and Community Outreach. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with this item. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the Proclamation <br /> Recognizing the Services and Contributions of Retiring Major David Lewis Caldwell, Jr., <br /> authorize the transfer to Major Caldwell of his service side-arm, and authorize the Chair to sign <br /> the Proclamation. <br />
