All of what is described below is in the <br />general law. By special or local act any number of modifications <br />or variations to the general law are possible. Also, 1 have <br />written to the Board several times in the past about <br />supplemental school tax elections, A copy of each of my prior <br />letters accompanies this letter. <br />1. A voter approved supplemental tax for school purposes <br />is for the purpose of "supplement[ing] the funds from State and <br />county allotments and thereby operat[ing] schools of a higher <br />standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the school <br />budget...." N,C. Gen. Stat. § 115C-501. <br />2. An Orange County School District tax for supplementing <br />the public school budget cannot exceed 50G on each $100.00 of <br />
