NCDOT Petition Information Craig Benedict, 919-245-2592 <br /> PURPOSE: To make a recommendation to the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br /> (NCDOT), and the North Carolina Board of Transportation (NC BOT), concerning a petition to add <br /> Sweetflag Lane in The Forest at Little River Subdivision to the State Maintained Secondary Road <br /> System. <br /> BACKGROUND: This request includes a petition for one (1) road addition to the State Maintained <br /> Secondary Road System. The road length and width are as follows: <br /> Road Name Length in Miles Number of Frontage Pavement/Right-of- <br /> Lots with Houses way Widths in Feet <br /> Sweetflag Lane 0.27 7 18/50 <br /> Total 0.27 7 18/50 <br /> The Forest at Little River Subdivision is located in an Agricultural Residential (AR) zone, north of <br /> Schley Road and east off of Hunt Road, directly south of the South Fork Little River (Attachment <br /> 1). The single family residential subdivision is located within Orange County's planning jurisdiction <br /> and was developed and approved subject to the County's zoning and subdivision regulations. <br /> There is no known subdivision violation associated with The Forest at Little River. <br /> The Forest at Little River Subdivision was recorded on April 22, 2010 (Book 106/Page 192) <br /> (Attachment 2). Sweetflag Lane was designed to public road standards, but has been a private <br /> road in the interim. It was intended to become a public road when conditions met NCDOT <br /> maintenance responsibility and ownership criteria. <br /> Sweetflag Lane has a length of 0.27 miles and provides access for seven fully developed lots. <br /> The road has a right-of-way width of 50 feet, and a pavement width of 18 feet. The road serves <br /> as the singular access road for vehicular ingress/egress at its intersection with Hunt Road (State <br /> Road 1540), and it terminates with a cul-de-sac on the east side of the subdivision. <br />
