ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 19, 2001 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. ~ ~, -~ <br />SUBJECT: HUD Cooperative Agreement <br />DEPARTMENT: Human Rights and Relations PUBLIC HEARING: (YlN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Annette Moore, ext. 2254 <br />Cooperative Agreement <br />(Under Separate Cover Prior to or at the TELERHONE NUMBERS: <br />Meeting) Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To approve a Cooperative Agreement Between Orange County and the United <br />States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for services performed during <br />the FFY 2001. <br />BACKGROUND: On September 29, 1998, the Board of Commissioners approved a <br />Cooperative A~reement with HUD for the period beginning the first (15t) day of October 1998 to <br />the thirkieth (30 )day of September 1999. HUD proposes a new Worksharing Agreement to <br />cover the FY 2001. For FY 2001, HRR will receive $1800 per/case for cases processed during <br />the period July 1, 2000 through June 15, 2001, funds for administrative costs, education and <br />outreach, training and to cover costs from the civil rights summit. Last year, the department <br />received $65,100. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT; HUD proposes that the Human Relations Commission receive the same <br />amount for funding for administrative costs, training, education and outreach and $1,800 for all <br />cases closed between July 1, 2000 through June 15, 2001. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the Cooperative <br />Agreement and authorize the Chair to sign the agreement, subject to the approval of the County <br />Attorney and the Manager. <br />
