7 <br /> areas served by the Orange County School district and meet income and developmental eligibility <br /> requirements. <br /> Our Title 1 Blended Pre-K classes are funded with a blend of federal Title 1 funding, state North Carolina <br /> (NC) Pre-K funds (Smart Start), the Exceptional Children's Program and Orange County Schools funds. <br /> There are limited tuition placements available at each school site for families whose income does not <br /> qualify for NC Pre-K placement. <br /> Applications are accepted throughout the school year,for the current school year.Completed applications <br /> are processed, screened ranked for Title 1 and NC Pre-K by the Pre- K Team. Eligible children must be at <br /> risk of failing to meet North Carolina's academic achievement standards as determined by multiple, <br /> educationally related, objective criteria. Family income,family size and need are also verified.All families <br /> are notified of their child's application status. Applications of children not placed will be maintained on a <br /> waiting list for a matching placement that becomes available. <br /> The Title 1 Blended Pre-K program follows the OCS K-12 calendar, operating at a minimum of 180 days, <br /> and adheres to the K-5 schedule, from 7:30am to 2:50pm. Currently, there is no before or after school <br /> extended care available for Pre-K children. <br /> Title 1 Blended Pre-K applications, along with program information are available in English and Spanish <br /> for download on the district's website. Hard copies are available at each OCS elementary school,the OCS <br /> Central Office, the OCS Welcome Center, the OC Department of Social Services, the OC Health <br /> Department, and the OC Public Library. <br /> The Title 1 Blended Pre-K program currently operates on an annual budget of$980,000 for 68 children. <br /> Funding sources are: <br /> • NC Pre-K: $230,000 <br /> • Federal Title 1: $200,000 <br /> • Federal, State and Local Exceptional Children (EC): $504,104 <br /> • 2019-2020: we have no tuition families for the 2019-2020 school year. Current tuition is$1,000. <br /> • Local Tuition payments, carried over from previous years when tuition was approximately$600: <br /> $47,500 <br /> OCS currently has 4 Title 1 Blended Pre-K classrooms: 68 children: 52 NC Pre-K and/or Title 1, 16 EC <br /> placements: <br /> 1. Central Elementary: 1 classroom: 18 children: 14 are NC Pre-K and/or Title 1,4 EC placements <br /> 2. Efland Cheeks Global: 1 classroom: 16 children: 12 are NC Pre-K and/or Title 1,4 EC placements <br /> 3. New Hope Elementary: 1 classroom: 18 children: 14 are NC Pre-K and/or Title 1, 4 EC placements <br /> 4. Pathways Elementary(PES): 1 classroom: 16 children: 12 are NC Pre-K and/or Title 1,4 EC placements, <br /> 2 EC push-in placements (from PES EC Pre-K classrooms and don't count in our reimbursement) <br /> All licensed Title 1 Blended Pre-K classrooms have 5-star(highest) quality ratings from the NC Division of <br /> Child Development and Early Learning. <br /> There are currently 79 age eligible children on the Title 1 Blended Pre-K waiting list for the 2019-2020 <br /> school year. <br /> EC Pre-K Classrooms <br /> OCS also serves two additional EC Pre-K classrooms at PES; each serving up to 10 children, for a total of <br /> 20 EC Pre-K placements. <br />
