Human Rights and Relation <br /> will provide three mini grants to community partners for the following purposes: <br /> (1) extend their current work into Northern Orange Community; <br /> (2) receive training on fair housing; <br /> (3) provide education and outreach to the communities they serve about potential Fair <br /> Housing rights whether COVID 19 related or otherwise; and <br /> (4) steer their clients to the Department of Human Rights and Relations if their clients or <br /> others are experiencing discrimination in housing. <br /> May— December Marian Cheek The Department will work with community partner to bring <br /> 2020 Jackson information about COVID-19 and housing discrimination to <br /> Center* the communities, they work with for the month of April and <br /> beyond as needed. The Activity funded will be the Learning <br /> Across Generation: Local Civil Rights and Oral History <br /> Education Program <br /> May — December Refugee The Department will work with community partner to bring <br /> 2020 Support Center* information about COVID-19 and housing discrimination to <br /> the communities, they work with for the month of April and <br /> beyond as needed. This activity will fund the Bridge Builders <br /> Programs. <br /> May — December El Centro The Department will work with community partner to bring <br /> 2020 Hispano information about COVID-19 and housing discrimination to <br /> the communities, they work with for the month of April and <br /> beyond as needed. Tis will fund an expansion of the <br /> Community Support and Engagement Funds. <br /> In addition to these advertisement campaigns, the Human Rights and Relations Department has <br /> also scheduled to host a Fair Housing Training Webinar for Housing Providers on April 29 via <br /> GoToMeeting. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with the consideration of the <br /> proclamation. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION AND <br /> INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or color; <br /> religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national origin or <br /> ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or economic <br /> status. <br /> Fair and equal housing opportunities is not only a legal mandate, it is also an Orange County <br /> priority which can bring about a community that is both harmonious and diverse. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the proclamation <br /> and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation. <br />
