2 <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />AGREEMENT FOR COMMISSION OF PUBLIC ART WORK <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered by and between ORANGE COtTNTY (the "County") <br />and SARAH CRAIGE (the "Artist") residing at 4100 Red Tail Run, Efland, NC 2724.3, <br />(collectively the "Parties"). This Agreement concerns the design, fabrication, and delivery of a <br />the mural (the "Art Work") by Sarah Craige to be installed by the Artist at the Southem Human <br />Services Center, 2501 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, NC (the "Site"). <br />WITNESSETH <br />WHEREAS, on April 26, 2005, a Public Art Selection Committee was convened by the Orange <br />County Arts Commission (the "Commission"), and <br />WHEREAS, the Public Art Selection Committee included representatives of the County, the <br />Commission, Arts Professionals, and the Community, and <br />WHEREAS, the Public Art Selection Committee selected Sarah Craige to enter into an <br />agreement with the County to design, fabricate, deliver, and install a the mural based on her <br />design proposal for the Site, and <br />WHEREAS, on May 9, 2005 the Orange County Arts Commission approved of the <br />recommendation of Sarah Craige's design proposal for public azt at the Southern Human <br />Services Center, and <br />WHEREAS, on .Tune 7, 2005, after a review of public comments and following the <br />recommendation of the Orange County Arts Commission, the Board of County Commissioners <br />approved of Sarah Craige's design proposal to develop a the mural for the Southern Human <br />Services Center. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, based upon the mutual promises contained herein and other valid and <br />sufficient consideration, the parties agree as follows: <br />ARTICLE 1. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT <br />a. Once the design proposal has been accepted by the Board of County Commissioners, the <br />County Manager and the Artist will sign this Agreement for the commission of public art <br />work. <br />b. After execution of this Agreement, the Artist will have a maximum of (60) days to <br />become involved with the Southern Human Services Center community in order to refine and <br />add details to the general conceptual approach which was presented and approved by the <br />Board of County Commissioners on Tune 7, 2005. The fully developed design proposal shall <br />consist of: a project budget, scaled drawings, a written statement describing the concept for <br />the Art Work, material samples, samples of coatings and finishes, a tentative fabrication <br />schedule, instnrctions for installing the work at the Site, and maintenance recommendations. <br />c. The Commission shall schedule a review of the fiilly developed design proposal by the <br />Southern Human Services Center Public Art Selection Committee, The Artist shall attend <br />
