s
ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: June 5, 2001
Action Agenda
Item No. ~~ 5 _
SUBJECT: A reement Renewal with UNC Famil Medicine and Health De artment
DEPARTMENT: Health PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No
ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT:
Agreement Rosemary Summers, ext 2411
TELEPHONE NUMBERS:
Hillsborough 732-8181
Chapel Hill 968-4501
Durham 588-7331
Mebane 336-227-2031
PURPOSE: To consider approval of an agreement renewal with UNC Family Medicine and
Health Department for Physician Services.
BACKGROUND: This agreement covers all physician services for the health department,
including communicable disease consultation, clinic supervision and direct clinical services,
mandated oversight of nurse practitioners, and consultation on protocol development and
quality assurance. The contract this year remains at .70 FTE services. Back-up services are
also included in the contract for vacation and sick coverage. The contract amount is $115,500
for the year and represents a 5% increase. This is due to salary increases and the back-up
costs for physicians that will actually be serving the department.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract for FY 2000-2001 was $110,000 and the proposed contract
for FY 2001-2002 is $115,500. This represents .70 FTE of a physician's time including medical
back-up. This amount has been included in the department's requested budget for FY 2001-
2002.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the agreement
subject to the approval of the 2001-2002 budget and the attorney's review, and authorize the
Chair to sign.
