• Be familiar with the procedures that must be followed in case of an emergency. <br /> • Enforce safety rules and regulations of the organization. <br /> • Set a good example for safety by working in a safe manner and encouraging others to do <br /> so. <br /> • Providing personal protective equipment as well as machine guards and <br /> safety devices commensurate with the state of the art. <br /> • Reviewing accident records and accomplishments of the safety program with <br /> the Safety Committee. <br /> • Evaluating effectiveness of the safety program. <br /> • Participating directly and/or indirectly in safety activities as may be required <br /> to maintain the enthusiasm and interest of all concerned. <br /> • Abiding by Safety rules and regulations when exposed to conditions governed by <br /> the rules. <br /> • Directing that any flagrant disregard of safety rules and regulations by employees <br /> be grounds for dismissal as outlined in Personnel Policy. <br /> Employees <br /> To assist the employee in developing keen "safety awareness" the following <br /> responsibilities are assigned: <br /> • To abide by the safety and health rules and regulations of <br /> the organization. <br /> • To regard the safety of fellow workers at all times. <br /> • To report any unsafe condition to the Supervisor. <br /> • To contribute ideas and suggestions for improving the safety <br /> of conditions or procedures to the Supervisor. <br /> • To use individual knowledge and influence to prevent accidents. <br /> • To attend safety training sessions. <br /> • To report accidents and injuries immediately. <br /> It is the responsibility of each supervisor of the Transit System to provide explicit <br /> instructional and procedural safety training for each employee.Safety becomes a shared <br /> responsibility between management and the employee, and working safely is a condition of <br /> employment. <br /> Employees are required to identify report and correct unsafe conduct and conditions. <br /> Under (OSHA) 29 CFR part 1910; employees have the right to report any unsafe working <br /> conditions without being subjected to any retaliation whatsoever. Each employee must <br /> be an integral part of the SYSTEM SAFETY PROGRAM. <br /> All transit employees are required to attend safety meetings.
