William Russell: Fleet Maintenance <br /> Safety Functions of the Agency Administrator/County Manager <br /> This person is directly responsible for all safety efforts in the organization. <br /> Enthusiasm and faith in the safety program must be such as to maintain the <br /> interest and support of all Department Heads and Supervisors. This attitude is <br /> reflected down through the Department Heads and Supervisors to the individual <br /> workers. The specific accident prevention duties include the following: <br /> • Active participation and direction in the planning of details for accident <br /> prevention which will bring the best results for all employees. Expansion and <br /> adaptation of program and procedures to all departments within the <br /> organization. <br /> • Demonstrated support of the program through personal participation and <br /> through approval of necessary expenditures for such items as personal <br /> protective equipment, mechanical guards, good lighting, good ventilation, <br /> and other physical improvements to the working environment, as well as <br /> expenditures for safety training materials, awards and incentives, etc. <br /> • Continuing review of the effectiveness of accident prevention efforts in <br /> various sections and departments, with necessary follow-up and bolstering of <br /> efforts when required. <br /> Safety Functions during Notification of Emergency <br /> When notice has been received that an event has occurred or the potential of an <br /> event occurring, which has or may produce a large number of casualties, the <br /> following information should be obtained by the person receiving the <br /> information: <br /> • Name of person making notification and from what telephone number <br /> • Location of emergency including address <br /> • Estimated number of casualties <br /> • Type of emergency (fire, explosion, plane crash, natural, weather- <br /> related, etc.) <br /> • Time call received <br /> 921Page <br />
