Significant differences can exist among different bus models and among <br /> different manufacturers, and equipment may have characteristics that are unique to the <br /> service environment. <br /> • Behind-the-wheel Training — Training includes all core driving maneuvers for the type of <br /> vehicle in service, including the difficulties in backing maneuvers that can lead to accidents, <br /> stopping distance requirements, and equipment-specific functions such as door opening <br /> and closing procedures for passenger boarding and alighting. <br /> • Passenger Sensitivity and Assistance Training—Training covers topics ranging from general <br /> customer service techniques to elderly and disabled sensitivity to technical skills in lift and <br /> securement. The following subjects are included in the training: <br /> • Understanding passenger needs <br /> • Understanding disabilities <br /> • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) <br /> • Communicating with passengers <br /> • Sensitivity to passenger needs <br /> • Mobility devices <br /> • Lifting and body mechanics <br /> • Providing assistance to passengers <br /> • Wheelchair management/wheelchair management <br /> • Lift and ramp operations <br /> • Emergency procedures <br /> Radio Usage <br /> To ensure the safety of our drivers and passengers and to enhance the performance of our <br /> operations, all OCPT employees are familiar with two-way radio operations. Basic procedures <br /> are as follows: <br /> • Staff using the two-way radio will follow the standard use practices of the FCC. Profanity, <br /> abusive language, or other inappropriate transmissions are not allowed, and could result in <br /> disciplinary action. <br /> • All transmissions will be as brief as possible. <br /> • All base stations and vehicle units shall be tuned to the appropriate assigned frequency at <br /> all times. <br /> 851Page <br />
