Department of Housing and Health Services -
Division of Social Services. The primary focus of the program is to assist as many TANF-
eligible families as possible to secure affordable housing through rental assistance and other
housing related support services. The Orange County TANF Housing Program contains three
primary program activities: Educational and Supportive Services; Rental Assistance; and
Homeownership/Downpayment Assistance. This program has been operating since April 2000
and approximately fifty (50) families have benefited from the program services. A detailed
report of program accomplishments is attached.
Staff has been notified recently that funding will be available to continue the program for an
another year. Specifically, the County will receive an additional $332,800 from the State
Division of Social Services for the 2001-2002 Fiscal Year.
Since program inception, the administrative services required for this grant project have been
contracted to an outside professional consultant -Gee Associates, Inc, of Chapel Hill. This
administrative arrangement has been beneficial and County staff recommends that we continue
to employ Gee Associates as the program administrator for the next year.
Attached is the Memorandum of Agreement between the County and Gee Associates, Inc. for
professional services for a cost not to exceed $134,874.
